Work

Things I’ve made, and why I made them

Most of these projects started with something I wanted to fix, understand, or make easier. Some are software; one is a company; another is a place to make things with a camera. Here’s what went into them.

Argus open on Today, with applications ready to send and opportunities closing this week

Argus

Featured project · Software

A desktop app for keeping track of jobs, scholarships and programmes, following deadlines, and preparing applications. I designed and built it from the ground up because I wanted a more useful way to manage the process myself.

Pops & Bangs

Automotive media

A project built around a long-standing love of cars. I present, film, edit and photograph the cars myself, and I’ve built my own editing tool to take some of the repetitive work out of producing videos.

Other things I’ve built

Smaller projects, experiments, and tools that solve specific problems. Not everything needs to become a company to be worth building.

  • My video editing tool

    Private

I wanted to spend more time shaping a video and less time sorting footage. This local tool takes a folder of camera footage, transcribes it, identifies scenes and usable takes, and assembles a first cut with chapters, subtitles and thumbnail suggestions. It can also create vertical edits timed to music. I still make the creative decisions; the tool gets me past the repetitive first pass.
